Kobayashi Takiji

is becoming famous again in today's Japan. He has been my idle (vis-a-vis a sublime object of my intellectual drive) for past few years. I'm happy to accept that my idle is becoming the hot topic for discussing today's malfunctioning labor condition; at the same time, I feel awkward because his struggle, his agony, his pain and his scream for realizing better democratic society are still underway in the 21st century. The so-called intellectuals keep discussing today's poor labor conditions that include Haken (non-regular workers), working-poor problems, and ridiculously long labor-hours causing death or mental dysfunctions in parallel to the situation faced by Kobayashi Takiji. In the famous last scene of Kanikousen, one of the protagonist says "Unite, once again." Because of the problematic of labor condition and globally integrated capitalist society, it is essential to unite once again in order to achieve a better democratic society, as Kobayashi Takiji hoped.
